SEVENTEEN Be The Sun Tour
Chicago Banner and Cupsleeve Events

Concept and Composite Image to Final Design

When I was approached by USAGAINCARATS to design and spearhead the Chicago banner for the overall project, I was still learning graphic design. For the best results, I invited my friend and graphic design student, Lyn, to create the final design. In Photoshop, I utilized a tie-dye texture to mimic sunrays, the Chicago skyline to highlight the city, and the silhouette of SEVENTEEN to incorporate more of the artists. I sent this image to Lyn with an explanation of the concept and a list of content I wanted. She added more illustrated elements and created a beautiful design that merged both of our ideas.

Designing Donor Items for Chicago Cupsleeve Event

To fund the production of the banners, USAGAINCARATS had created donation tiers that included fanmade merchandise such as washi tape and keychains. To make the process of picking up banners and donor items more efficient, I organized a cupsleeve event prior to the concert. For those that had missed the initial donor items and to fund the production of my cupsleeves, I designed keychains, stickers, and magnets. Below is the process - from sketches to final products. All items were manufactured outside of Chicago and shipped to me.

Three Days of Events

From August 24 to August 26, I dedicated my time to hosting and organizing events and banner pick-ups. With August 25 being the day of the concert, I put together a cupsleeve event prior to connect the Chicago community with concert attendees coming from out of town. Due to the expected high volume of attendees for this event, I brought on two other hosts to help create free items for attendees as well as two volunteers for crowd control. I had two vendors to create an even more engaging environment for attendees.

During the concert, my brother and I were in charge of a majority of the banners and all the donor items. With a team of six people, we distributed 7,000 of the 10,000 banners printed before the start of the concert.

I planned for a post-concert event too for those that had missed the first day or any banners we coldn't distribute in time. I designed the cupsleeve and flyers. A year later, my cupsleeve is still being produced to celebrate one year since the tour.
